The project
An 8.8 kW rooftop array — 22 REC 400 Alpha Pure-R panels on Enphase IQ7X microinverters — installed in 2024 on a composition shingle roof in Whittier. The scope included a 200A main panel upgrade at the existing service location and a Tesla Universal Wall Connector for Level 2 EV charging at home. OC Solar handled the design, local permitting, installation, and Southern California Edison interconnection in-house.
Wired for the EV
Microinverters convert power at each panel across the roof, and the upgraded 200A service gives the home the electrical capacity to run Level 2 EV charging alongside its everyday loads — one system feeding both the house and the car.
