What is the OC Solar Prepaid Plan?

The OC Solar Prepaid Plan is a simple prepaid solar option where a commercial partner claims the commercial ITC and depreciation and applies that value upfront to reduce your prepayment. This gives you the same level of savings the former 30% homeowner tax credit used to provide, without tax filing or credit underwriting.

How does the Prepaid Plan apply savings upfront?

Instead of the homeowner claiming a tax credit, a commercial entity claims the commercial Investment Tax Credit and depreciation. The value is then applied directly as a discount to your prepayment, lowering your upfront cost immediately.

 

Why is this plan available if the homeowner tax credit is ending?

The homeowner credit is scheduled to expire, but the commercial ITC remains. The Prepaid Plan uses a commercial structure, so the value of the former 30% homeowner credit can still be captured and passed through to you upfront.

 

Do I need a certain credit score to qualify?

Nope! There is no FICO score or credit underwriting required to participate in the plan.

Does the plan place a lien on my home?

No. The plan does not require a UCC filing or lien on your home.

What happens if I sell my home?

The agreement can be transferred to the new homeowner with no credit check or underwriting. All that is required is a simple transfer notice.

Can I finance my prepayment?

Yes. You may work with approved lenders to finance your prepayment, but the financing is not tied to system ownership.

 

Do I own the system under this plan?

Not upfront. Ownership is not guaranteed, but an option to take ownership may be available after the initial 6-year period, depending on program terms.
